Sarah Stickland
My own experience with counselling helped me through some difficult times, and I know first-hand the value of having a supportive space to explore your challenges. My approach to counselling is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and collaboration. I believe that each person’s journey is unique, and my role is to support you in uncovering your strengths and exploring the challenges you face in a way that feels safe and empowering. Through our work together, I aim to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can gain clarity, find balance, and work towards meaningful growth.

An integrative approach
My approach as a therapist is integrative, meaning I use a range of techniques tailored to suit your individual needs. At the heart of my work is our relationship: I believe the connection we build is key to feeling safe, supported, and able to share freely. Whether you’re facing specific issues or simply feeling stuck, we can work together to help you understand yourself better and find the right path forwards.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), fully insured, and committed to regular supervision to ensure I provide the best care possible to my clients. Everything you share with me is confidential unless I have concerns that you or someone else may be at risk of harm. Any information shared in supervision is fully anonymised to protect your privacy.

What I provide
As your counsellor, I offer:
Empathy and understanding: I will listen carefully, responding with empathy and without judgement.
Care and compassion: My aim is to create a warm, compassionate environment where your emotional well-being is my priority.
Time and space: You will have dedicated time and space to process your feelings, thoughts, and experiences.
Consistency: Sessions will be held at the same time each week to provide stability and a sense of safety.
Client-focused approach: Therapy will be tailored to your needs, focusing on what’s most important for you.
Safe and confidential space: You can share your concerns openly, knowing that confidentiality is always respected.
What I need from you
To get the most from our work together, I ask that you commit to:
Regular attendance: Attending sessions at the same time each week helps us build a strong therapeutic relationship. Please note that sessions cannot be held open without regular attendance.
Commitment to the process: Therapy requires active participation. By being open to exploring your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, we can work together towards your goals.
Session policy: If you need to cancel a session, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice. If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the session will need to be paid for in full. This reflects the value of both your time and mine.
Contact
If you’re ready to explore counselling, I offer an initial 50 minute in-person consultation where we can discuss what brings you to counselling, and see if my way of working feels right for you.
